Kay’s February Blog

Happy February everyone!

It’s a busy month for us, with team holidays, event planning, preparations for the horses and sheep season ahead and my two children Nicole and Jamie’s birthdays!

On the farm, the work has continued with new hedge plants being put in the ground and new fences and gateways being built, all with the aim of building better habitats for farm wildlife and birds for the future. With the horses, we are busy preparing them for the show season which starts in mid March – for example protecting their white feathers around their feet, so the mud in the fields doesn’t pull it off and training them so they give the best show in the ring. We also have the first of hopefully five foals due next month too, so stables to prepare as well. With the ewes, we are scanning them this week, so we will find out how many lambs each of them have and then we can prepare a feeding plan accordingly.

In the shop and café, we have our first evening event for a while with the Valentines Supper and we are busy planning our Mothers Day and Easter events, so look out for more information on this very soon!! We are planning to hold a number of pop up supper evenings through the year, including a Curry demonstration night, a Butchery demonstration evening and a Cheese & wine evening so look out for these too! In the shop, we’ve been working on improving our gift and kitchenware/dining ranges and we have some lovely new local and eco friendly gifts for you to browse. Also Chris and the Butchery team have been working on some new convenient meal solution ideas too all made with the best quality local meats, so check those out too!!

As a Management team, we met up in early February for a day out together to plan the year ahead and also to review how Christmas went. As a result, we have lots of exciting ideas ahead of us, so we are now just trying to work out how to fit it all in. We love to get feedback to help us with this, so we are also planning a short and simple customer survey to get input from you too, so I hope you will support us with this

Here’s to spring and the warmer weather!! Hope to see you soon
