July Blog

It is so good to see old friends again and enjoy the buzz of the show ring once again! We are feeling incredibly proud of our Shire mare Melodie who won Champion at the Devon County Show and in doing so qualified for the Horse of the Year Show in October. The shows are great the public supporting our wonderful breed is fantastic.

Like many of you I’m sure, we are also feeling proud of our children with good end of year reports and parents evenings! Nicole and Jamie are taking part in their first ‘Young Handler’ competitions with our shire horses this summer at 14 and 15 years of age, so fingers crossed for that. Nicole is also doing some work experience both at Croots and also my brothers local bakery Luke Evans Bakery which has been supplying us since we started!

Back at the farm, the lambs will be weaned off their Mums very soon and the grass is getting ready to be mowed and made into haylage for food to see us through the winter months and at long last Dad and Steve are off to buy a new tractor!!

In the Farm Shop, planning is well under way for Christmas now and most ranges have already been selected and ordered and work has begun on the
website too! We’ve recently taken delivery of a new wine range so look out for that next time you are in. The Butchery team are busy with the
BBQ season and since we’ve reopened our new look cafe, the response from customers has been amazing, so we are incredibly grateful for your
continued support.

Wishing you all the best for the summer weeks ahead,

Kay
